Position Overview:
The Automation Engineer – SPM will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of Special Purpose Machine automation projects, from concept design to commissioning. The role plays a critical part in improving manufacturing efficiency, reducing cycle times, and ensuring consistent quality through robust automation solutions. This position requires strong hands-on expertise, cross-functional coordination, and independent project ownership.
Qualifications:
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering
Formal technical education aligned with industrial automation and machine design
Relevant certification or training in PLC, HMI, or automation systems is an added advantage
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and execute Special Purpose Machine (SPM) based automation projects aligned with production goals
Prepare detailed machine concepts, layouts, electrical schematics, and technical drawings
Select and integrate automation components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, motors, pneumatics, and hydraulics
Perform PLC and HMI programming, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting during development and commissioning
Coordinate closely with production, quality, maintenance teams, and external vendors for smooth project execution
Supervise machine assembly, panel wiring, installation, and on-site commissioning activities
Conduct machine trials, validation runs, and cycle time optimization to meet productivity targets
Ensure compliance with machine safety standards, quality norms, and internal engineering guidelines
Prepare SOPs, user manuals, and complete technical documentation for deployed machines
Provide ongoing technical support and drive continuous improvement initiatives on existing automation systems
Skills Required:
Strong hands-on knowledge of Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and industrial automation systems
Practical experience with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, servo systems, pneumatics, and industrial drives
Ability to read, interpret, and execute electrical and mechanical drawings accurately
Working knowledge of machine safety standards and industrial compliance requirements
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root-cause analysis capabilities
Effective communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams and vendors
Special Requirements:
Mandatory hands-on experience in SPM automation projects
Background in manufacturing or electrical industry preferred
Ability to independently handle automation projects from concept to commissioning
Willingness to work on machine installation, trials, and on-site commissioning activities
Strong focus on productivity improvement, quality enhancement, and workplace safety
